Synopsis
A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.
When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.
Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will get you off. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.
Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I’m going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and am knee deep in a damn compost pit.
Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, and defend her…and the kids.
And that—that, I know how to do.
Review
Doing what he does best with his job, his career goals are on track for where he wants to be, the best in the business, serving a$$holes if you ask me! His friends think it’s time for him to give dating a try and settle down; one of things (trust me, there’s more) that truly makes this book is his fully entertaining inner-dialogue. He finds himself in so many different situations wanting to act his normal douchey ways, but goes against it. Especially when it comes to Chelsea McQuaid and her six nieces and nephews that she has guardianship of. I absolutely love Chelsea, she’s sweet and kind, and knows how to handle the troublemakers. Even better, she knows how to handle Becker!
Jake is their knight in shining armor and it’s completely heart-warming and so damn sweet! It’ll make you fall in love with this guy, everything that’s against the norm of what he usually does, he throws it to the wind and swoops in. Jake makes such a meaningful and sweet connection with each of the kids and Chelsea, he came into their lives, right when they needed him. And as much as they needed him, Jake needed them just as much!
There’s so much to love in this book and all the humor adds the perfect touches to this story. I loved the relationships he creates with each and everyone of the kiddos, and he does so much for Chelsea. He genuinely wants to be there for him and it’s downright amazing. I’ve been bouncing in and out of contemporary romances, and this was just the fix I needed to get back into it. I highly reccomend this one and it has become such a favorite for 2015! Every moment will make your heart beat for more!
