Sunday, Sunday, Sunday 04 | Well I Managed to Read Some Books.

Last weekend I skipped the Sunday post because I was still on a major hangover from the series that I devoured. Thankfully this week, I managed to get some reading done and now I’m back on the reading train again.

I’ve been having a bit of deployment blues, realllllly missing my husband right now. Pair it up with some angsty/emotional reads and the tears are flowing, it was rather cathartic.

Non-Reading Update

Turkey Day

2020 has been quite the year, stressful at best. With turkey day happening this coming week, I’ve been on the hunt for a place that will deliver me some turkey dinner. Believe it or not, this is my favorite holiday because of the family aspect and alllllll the food. With my better half deployed and just not traveling, period, I’m definitely going to make the most of it.

I’m planning on baking a pie at least, whipping up my own mashed potatoes and bread rolls. Normally I make my own gravy, but since I won’t be baking a turkey this year, I’ll have to find something different.

I’m honestly a little emotional over it because I wish my husband were home, but me, the little and my dog (don’t worry, I won’t be feeding him any turkey dinner scraps, but he’ll get a nice treat) will make the most of this family holiday.

Video Games & Streamers

I’ve definitely been playing more video games this week, which ranges from Genshin Impact to Animal Crossing New Horizons. And today I tried out the demo for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and that game is fun! I’ve been debating buying it right away or just waiting a while because I don’t feel like spending 60 bucks on a game right now.

A daily thing I’ve been doing is watching streamers on Twitch and Youtube especially when they play Among Us. I’ve been telling people of Romancelandia to get a group together and play. I think it would be fun and absolutely hilarious.

After Turkey Day Sales / Small Business Saturday / Cyber Monday

Anyone else do a bulk of their holiday shopping during this time? I do because DEALS. Honestly, I’m trying to snag some deals on some much needed furniture for the house. There have been deals happening already, which makes me wonder if there will even be deals around then.

What’s Up Next on My TBR?

Can you believe this week is the last full week of November?! Holy crap that flew by, but I’m here for it. I don’t really have a set TBR for the week, but I’m planning on re-reading Abigail Owen’s Fire’s Edge series since I snagged the ARC for the next book up in this series. If you’re a fan of dragon shifters, it’s one of my favorite series out there.

Black Friday Readathon

Along with some holiday online shopping, I’ll be participating in the Black Friday Readathon, which is hosted by these lovely bloggers:

It’s really just day of reading, which is something I can definitely do 😉

Books I’ve Read This Week

Even though I didn’t read as much as I normally do, I was just elated to read something new after almost a week of nothing. This week was definitely dedicated to ARCs, I’m behind on a few and then I tried to stay ahead of my schedule. So yeah, it was a pretty productive reading week.

Bound by Forever by S. Young (Samantha Young) is book 3 in the True Immortality. I’ve really enjoyed this series so far, book 1 is still my favorite. But this is a slow burn fae/shifter romance and the characters absolutely make this story. I just loved them so much. And that has just been the thing for every couple in this series

Operation Bailey Birthday by Piper Rayne is the last novella in The Baileys series. This family is one that I’ve completely fallen in love with and it was a bittersweet farewell. If you’re looking for a romcom series, look no further than this author duo’s series.

Second Dive by Jasmin Miller is the 3rd book in her Kings of the Water series, little bit of a sports romance, low on the drama, truly enjoyable reads. Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes to read about and Jasmin did a great job combining a bit of emotion/angst into this light read.

Little Lies by H. Hunting (Helena Hunting) was a book that I was a bit weary to pick up. I’m a fan of Helena’s Pucked series, loved the characters and there’s just sooo many comical moments in that series. Little Lies is a second generation of the kids from her Pucked and All In series. Her All In series was a bit of a miss for me, so I wasn’t sure how this one was going to be. But I LOVED it, it’s actually making my top fave list for 2020. It’s a new adult enemies to lovers romance that I highly recommend. The topic of dealing with anxiety is a huge part of this story and Helena did a great job writing their story. It’s on Kindle Unlimited.

Dirty Secrets by Regina Kyle is my first read from the Harlequin Dare books and I really enjoyed it. It’s a fun and steamy, brother’s best friend romance. If you’re looking for quick read, give this one a try.

Music

Lo-fi music is a constant in my daily routine. Every time I wake up, I have it playing over my speaker to start my day. And since I’m already in the holiday mood, I searched lo-fi holiday and found this playlist. There’s a bunch to listen to on there and I’m loving all of it.

I hope everyone had a great week and that you have the best week ahead!

  1. Sorry to hear that you’ve got the blues but I completely understand that, it’s hard to be without your husband. Can you at least talk to him soon?

I’m going to be baking a bit as well. I’m hoping to make some pumpkin bars and nutella pie. My husband doesn’t like pumpkin so I guess it’s up to me to eat all the bars. Sigh.

I hope the Black Friday Readathon provides a needed distraction! <3

    1. Thank you, I got an email from him earlier this week! So that definitely made my week.

Pumpkin bars and nutella pie sound absolutely amazing! Normally there’s 3 pies that are an absolute must, but I went with pumpkin pie and a guava cheesecake!

Look at you!!!! You are rocking those blocks!! I barely read anything these last few days, but I hope it will change this week. I have so many books I still want to read before the year ends.

    1. I’m really coming around to the blocks and I feel like the more I use them, I won’t even notice a huge different. To be honest, I’m liking it more, thank you for helping me!

You’re welcome!! And I felt the same. It sounds scary, but in all honesty, it’s not. It’s pretty easy if you think about how many different blocks you actually need in each blog post.

ooh I had no idea they added new blocks, will have to check it out 😀
