Mafia Romance Series Recommendation | Bratva Series by T.J. Maguire

If you’re coming here from my most recent podcast, welcome. Or if you have no idea what I’m talking about, I did a podcast episode recommending a mafia romance series that I read last month.

One of the things that I was a huge fan of was saving BookTok recommendations and I tend to gravitate towards certain tropes and sub-genres. And this one, I’m pretty sure popped up from the author’s page, it had a quote and I was sold. Naturally, I started the series out of the order and just kept rolling with it, then decided to go back to book 1 … and re-read the last two. Yeah, don’t mind my logic or process, that’s just how I did it and there was zero regrets.

The series in question is the Bratva series by T.J. Maguire and as of right now, there’s 4 books. Each book is an interconnected standalone and you will see a lot of the previous characters throughout this series. Til this very day, I still can’t get over this one and I’m very close to just re-reading them.

I would definitely say this is a dark mafia romance, so definitely check out the content/trigger warnings, they’re mentioned on the author’s website as well.

Bratva Knight by T.J. Maguire
Bratva Butcher by T.J. Maguire

Why I loved this series?

  • badass FMCs, I would not want to be on their bad side
  • the MMCs treat their partners as equals
  • family dynamics, truly comical
  • each and everyone of these characters, loved them
Bratva Bride by T.J. Maguire

bratva bride

The Bratva rule Las Vegas.
The Cosa Nostra rule New York City.
What happens when they merge their families?
A new King and Queen of the Mafia are born.

Illayana Volkov and Arturo De Luca have a long road ahead, with enemies around every corner. They’ll have to protect and trust in one another to survive. With a brutal betrayal and danger lurking in the shadows, who can they really trust?

Authors Note: Bratva Bride is NOT a standalone. It is the first book in the Bratva series. This series is an INTERCONNECTED series. Although each book centres around a different couple, the overall storyline flows throughout the entire series. This means that some questions may be left unanswered at the end of a book, but will be addressed in the book that follows.

A hard, dominating Bratva Prince
A fearless, crazy Cartel Princess

Aleksandr Volkov
I’ve lived my life with rigid control.
A tight vice on myself and my emotions.
Scars from my past have left me broken. Riddled with guilt and anguish.
When my baby sister was kidnapped, I feared the worst. That she’d suffered the same fate as our mother. It stirred up those feelings I’ve tried so desperately to bury and ignore.
I never expected to find her.
Drea Ortega.
A 5ft, tattooed, killing machine who took my breath away from the first moment I laid eyes on her.
She was my beacon of light in my dark chaotic world.
My heart. My soul. My everything.

Drea Ortega
I loved my life in the Cartel.
It was brutal and violent. Rough and bloody. All things I thoroughly enjoyed.
I liked the way it challenged me. Forced me to think on my feet and adapt.
Getting kidnapped happened sometimes in my line of work. It was nothing to cry over. Nothing to freak out about. You rolled up your sleeves and dealt with it as best you could.
The Bratva were the stuff of nightmares. Rumours of their brutality and viciousness circled far and wide in the organised crime world. My dad told me to steer clear of them, and now I was stuck in the lion’s den.
I never expected to find him.
Aleksandr Volkov.
Tall. Dark. Sexy. He was hotter than any man had the right to be. Over 6 and a half feet of pure muscle and sin with a secret heart of gold.
He forced his way into my life and now, I wasn’t sure I could live without him.

The funny thing about trust is it’s so hard to gain but so easy to lose. One stupid mistake cost me the only woman I’ve ever loved.
Cost me her.
Tatiana Andreeva.
My fierce, golden-haired goddess with the face of an angel and the attitude of the fucking devil. She was my everything, and I would do whatever it took to get her back, because a life without her was a life not worth living.

Even though I didn’t play an active role in the Bratva, I was still very much a Bratva woman.
My dad was an advisor to the Pakhan.
My best friend, a Bratva Princess turned Cosa Nostra Queen.
And her brother, a 6’6 Bratva killing machine, was the man who owned my heart but shattered my soul.
My dad used to read me bed time stories when I was a little girl, of princesses and their knight and shining armour. I used to fall asleep dreaming of the day when I would finally find mine. Someone to love me. Protect me. Be there for me in every way.
But when I needed my Knight, he wasn’t there.

The Bratva Butcher
When my wife died at the hands of my enemies, a part of me died along with her. For 10 long, agonising years, I yearned for her. Day and night. I vowed to never look in another woman’s direction again, and for those 10 years, I didn’t.
Then Autumn DeValos bulldozed into my life.
I tried to kill her. Several times. But her skills as an assassin made her one of the toughest opponents I had ever faced.
When we’re both kidnapped by the same man, and forced to work together in a fight-to-the-death, gladiator-style tournament, things change.
A side of me that had been dormant since my wife’s death arose, like a dark, angry beast demanding to be free. Demanding Autumn.
But how could I possibly allow that when I swore to remain faithful to my wife, even in death?

The Crimson Death
Dimitri Volkov, The Bratva Butcher. The man, the myth, the legend. A literal bogeyman within the organised crime syndicates, the world’s biggest asshole, and my partner for a stupid fight to the death tournament.
Joy. Not.
I tried to kill him. Several times. But a man like him doesn’t die easy. He was rude. Arrogant. Obnoxious. And the hottest man I’d ever met in my life. Not that I would ever tell him that.
Somewhere in the middle of all the arguing and attempted murder, things slowly began to change between us, and I saw a side to him I never knew existed.
We connected, despite the fact that neither of us wanted too.
But none of it mattered.
Dimitri Volkov would only ever love one woman in his life, and it wasn’t me.

There is another book in the works, which I’m highly-anticipating! I haven’t quite got into the stalker trope, but I definitely haven’t seen it where it’s the FMC that is the stalker! I’m definitely intrigued about that little element. And even better news, Podium Audio picked up this series, I don’t have any information on the release dates for these, but you can bet that I’ll be adding them to my list.

And there you have it, one of my top mafia series recommendations!
