January felt like it didn’t exactly fly by for me, but it wasn’t slow either. And I’m pretty sure that has to do with the fact that I’m getting towards the end of my pregnancy…and everything has been a waiting game.
I had a great month of reading and have been working towards my goals and reading challenges for the year. I have no idea how my reading will be this month since I’m due any day now and will become a mom of 2. It’ll be quite the transition that will take some time to get used to. But hopefully I’ll be able to escape to my books. I’ve been trying to get as much reading in before baby 2 arrives, but with the exhaustion, I’m starting to lose some steam.
Let’s recap my month!
I decided to jump on the ACOTAR train, I’ve been wanting to read the most talked about series and that was definitely one of them. I haven’t written my series review, but overall I’d give the series a 3.5 star rating. I’ve got a lotttttttt of opinions, which may seem unpopular to many. I’m a huge fan of this genre, so there are things I’m rather picky about. I did enjoy the series overall and am definitely looking forward to the next book in a couple of weeks. I will say that I do not hate Tamlin or Nesta.
Paranormal and fantasy romance were my most read sub-genres and I’m definitely going to stay on this for the month because of FaRoFeb (Fantasy Romance February). They’re putting on a month long readathon with some bingo cards to set your TBR. I have a loose TBR that’s bound to change since I’m a mood reader. I’ll have a seperate blog post sharing more details about all of that.
Even though I have 29 books read so far, my average rating for the month was a whopping 3.5 … which isn’t exactly great, but not horrible. I had 3 top faves and one of them being a re-read. But I added 7 new to me authors and hoping to add many more this month.
Netgalley Update
Yep, with the new year comes more progress towards reading through my Netgalley TBR. Last year, I made a goal to reach 60%, which I felt like I reached that goal even though Netgalley didn’t say so. I set my goal pretty high this year of a feedback ratio of 80%. And the plan is to read 5 books off my Netgalley TBR each month. I was one book short in January, but I’m nearly finished with my current Netgalley read.
Hopefully there aren’t any enticing books to request this month, I failed at not requesting too many last month…
I pretty interested to see how this month will go with my reading, so until next time, everyone!
What were some of your top reads from this month?
