King of libertines Review

I’ve been seeing Sea of Ruin all over and since I have been in a bit of a dark romance kick, I picked up the King of Libertines, to see if it was something I wanted to read. And it was just the extra push I needed!

This novella only gives us a glimpse to just one part of the story to what’s to come in Sea of Ruin. I was instantly engrossed with the story and the characters. Pam gave us a hell of an insight to Bennett, a badass female pirate captain. I mean come on, can it not get more intriguing than that.

Bring in the ever so arrogant Priest, who is known as the bed them and cheat them. I was eager to read more about these two.

If you’re unsure about reading Sea of Ruin, grab this one to see if it’s something up your alley!

sea of ruin review

As soon as I finished the novella, King of Libertines, I was just dying to start this Sea of Ruin. And this story will just gut you completely, it definitely wasn’t what I was expecting when I first started. The novella and this one were my first reads by Pam and she does a phenomenal job weaving such an intriguing and gritty story that you won’t be able to put down.

I’ve finished this days ago and I’m still going back and re-reading a little bit here and there. Bennett was absolutely EVERYTHING, I loved every damn thing about her. Daughter of the most well-known pirate out there and she’s definitely making a name for herself following in her father’s footsteps. She faces soooo much throughout this story, it’s tragic and downright devastating. But she persevered every single time, she always kept fighting…even in the name love.

Ok, so I’m not really a fan of love triangles, but there’s always certain exceptions I’ll make. And I took a chance with that on this one and I don’t regret it one bit. I’m not going to touch on it too much because it would be spoilery. But my goodness, it just worked completely for me. I also fell in love with both Priest and Ashley for very different reasons. For Bennett, doing what she could to survive, she definitely wasn’t counting on falling in love with another man.

If you love historical romance AND dark romance, I can’t suggest this enough. Sea of Ruin is a read you can absolutely devour, feel every single emotion that Bennett goes through. There were a lot of things that I wished never would have happened to her. But she always came out stronger and with the need to avenge herself. And boy, she does!

PHENOMENAL read and definitely can’t wait to read more by Pam.

trigger warnings: rape and torture; this is a dark romance, so please keep that in mind.
