I made a deal with a devil once, and it cost me all but a shred of my soul.

Now, cornered in an alley by a sexy, silver-tongued demon who wants something other than my final tie to existence, I’m faced with a choice.

Since escaping the demonic realm six months ago, I’ve honed my skills and my rage hunting the craven evils of New York City alongside the witches who saved me. Vigilantes, they call us. Cold-hearted killers. Monsters of the night. If only they knew how true that was—what our pasts have shaped us to be.

Mine forged me into the most powerful Daughter of Fire ever, which is exactly what this hell-spawned charmer claims he needs to kill the demon who stole my soul. Together, Zen insists, we can share in revenge–but on one condition. I must bind myself to him, an unthinkable deed with deadly ramifications at best. He’s playing every beguiling card in his deck to lure me in, but I’m no fool. He may be the enemy of my enemy, but he’s still a demon.

And I won’t make that mistake again.

A CURSE OF NIGHTSHADE, the first paranormal romance novel in the Witches of the Gilded Lilies series by Amber Lynn Natusch.

Review

I’ve been a long-time fan of Amber and haven’t been able to catch up on some of her other series. Once she mentioned that she’d have a new series coming out and all the books would be standalone, I was like yes, please come to me! The past year and reading has been quite the adventure and reading a series with the same couple have not been my go-to… I’m just really impatient this year.

I’ll start off by saying, YES. Absolutely yes, this series is definitely one I needed and will be eager for as each book releases. A Curse of Nightshade is the start of the Witches of the Gilded Lilies series. And here we Oleander and Zen’s story.

I was hooked from the very beginning, I mean … I just about read this in one sitting. I thought this was a great start to the series, we get enough details without having the information overload you’d get if this weren’t a standalone. Because by the end, there’s definitely more questions that will pop up, but we know that we’ll get answers and also see more of the Gilded Lilies. I’m pretty eager to learn more about the other witches.

The romance between Oleander and Zen is an absolute slow-burn, I wasn’t expecting that at all. But oh my it’s absolutely sizzling between them. I really liked Oleander, she’s very much a take action now and deal with the consequences, which definitely has its pros and cons. And we all know that I love a strong heroine. Ahhhh and Zen is definitely one of those heroes that got that smirk down that could probably have you doing so many things without even thinking 😉

Totally enjoyed this one, I hope we get to see more of Oleander and Zen … I mean, I know we will, there’s definitely going to be something towards the end of the series, where all the witches have to pull together for the greater good. We already know who is up next and I’m so excited, and can’t wait to get my grabby hands on it!
