About Tycoon

He wasn’t always this rich. This hot. This difficult.
Aaric Christos was a guy who protected me. Wanted me. Maybe even loved me.
That man is gone.
In his place is the most powerful real estate tycoon in the city.
He’s a cold, ruthless, aggressive businessman.
The only one who can save me and my startup from ruin.
It takes every ounce of courage to put my pride aside and ask for his help.
I didn’t expect him to offer it easily.
And he doesn’t.
Instead, he vets me harder than he’s vetted anyone.
Don’t invest in what you don’t know, he says.
He’s assessing every piece of me, to the point I’ve never felt so bare.
I yearn for the boy I once knew, whose touch once craved me.
Putting it all on the line will be worth it, I tell myself.
Until I realize—too late—that some risks are not worth taking.

Review

SO. MUCH. ANGST! But I can’t say I didn’t hate it. I haven’t read too many of Katy Evans books, but I rather enjoyed this one. Her writing is a bit different than what I’m used to reading from other authors. I found myself easily reading word after word. I can’t even explain her style in this, but it just felt so different. It flowed so easily and I got hooked on Aaric and Bryn’s story.

I loved the journey that Aaric went through in life, he worked his ass off to make a better life for himself. To prove everyone wrong, he rose to the top and now lives a carefully planned life and doing things that are convenient for him. And all his plans get ruined once his what if, blast from the past shows up in his life again. He has suffered loss and now that Bryn is back, he doesn’t want to lose his chance again.

Bryn has also suffered her share of loss. Hoping to get some backing for a startup that’s so dear to her, she hopes to score a meeting with the tycoon that is Aaric Christos. Her big what if that has the financial means to get her startup going. You’ll never meet someone so persistent; that’s Bryn! She’s full of fire and refuses to take no for an answer.

I don’t know about everyone else, but this was quite the unique story. It was a second chance of sort … kind of? I’m not really sure how to explain it, but even though they never dated back in high school, they made an impression that lasted nearly 12 years. It’s evident that they’ve always wanted each other, but Aaric wanted to deserve her. And that’s when he sets off and becomes a Tycoon. He has it all except that memorable girl from high school. And Bryn felt like she needed to be more deserving of him.

Not gonna lie, I’m a fan of angsty books. I love having my gut twist and turn with anticipation of what will happen next. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait for Mogul to come out!
