Layla
When Leeds meets Layla, he’s convinced he’ll spend the rest of his life with her—until an unexpected attack leaves Layla fighting for her life. After weeks in the hospital, Layla recovers physically, but the emotional and mental scarring has altered the woman Leeds fell in love with. In order to put their relationship back on track, Leeds whisks Layla away to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met. Once they arrive, Layla’s behavior takes a bizarre turn. And that’s just one of many inexplicable occurrences.
Feeling distant from Layla, Leeds soon finds solace in Willow—another guest of the B&B with whom he forms a connection through their shared concerns. As his curiosity for Willow grows, his decision to help her find answers puts him in direct conflict with Layla’s well-being. Leeds soon realizes he has to make a choice because he can’t help both of them. But if he makes the wrong choice, it could be detrimental for all of them.

Review
Oh wow! It’s been a while since I’ve read a Coho book and I was just reminded of how phenomenal of a writer Colleen is. I’ve been a fan of her older book, but dive into her newer stuff every now and then. When I learned she was writing a paranormal romance, I was absolutely in for this one.
But that might have been my biggest mistake because that already put in expectations. I’m a huge paranormal romance fan. I read another review by a fellow bookish friend and she definitely summed up the book the best, it’s paranormal activity with some romance.
I didn’t quite connect with the characters and their romance, but the mystery/suspense really pushed me through this story. I was intrigued the entire time and sometimes, a little creeped out. Colleen did mention that it was a blend of Verity with romance, I haven’t read that book yet, but heard soooo many great things about it.
Layla is definitely a unique story and one I can’t say I’ve read anything like, before. My best advice for this one is to go in blind. The mystery was definitely my favorite part and I hope Colleen writes more books like this in the future.
I won’t even embarrass myself by saying what my last Hoover book was lol. I’ve been seeing good reviews for this one and have been thinking about picking it up. Great review!
I don’t read her books as often anymore, hopefully you like Layla! It’s definitely different than her previous books.
I’m a bit nervous about picking up this one. I loved her last two romances, but I’m not sure about anything that isn’t romance – lol.

She definitely marketed it as a paranormal romance, not sure if I would call it a PNR though. There is romance and a HEA, if that’ll help you decide.
I need a HEA – lol
Oh definitely, that’s an absolute must! There is one, btw. lol
