About Tandem

Kyle Kingston-Moore has a reputation.

Adrenaline seeker. Commitment-phobe. Gigolo of the skies.

He’s worked tirelessly to make a success out of Sensational Skydives, on occasion providing extra services to deliver the ultimate jump experience. The adrenaline helps him forget the loneliness and the gaping hole left in his heart. When the rush wears off, he’s on the hunt again—a vicious circle of avoidance.

Kalani Hart knows all about avoidance.

Wide-open spaces. Social situations. Uncontrolled environments.

For years, fear has crippled Kalani’s attempts to lead a normal life after a random attack that tore her family apart. Finally, Kalani is on her way to recovery. She knows she needs to face her nightmares, but taking the plunge is easier said than done. When her therapist challenges her to take on skydiving, item number one on her bucket list, Kalani has to decide if she’s truly ready to take charge of her life.

Will one tandem jump with Kyle be the key to Kalani getting her life back, or will they both find themselves stranded in a place where their hearts decide what happens next?

When the adrenaline is this high, anything can happen.

Review

This book was a first time read for this author, it was a good read but didn’t quite pack that adrenaline high I was hoping for. We’ve got two beautiful people with devastating pasts that they quite haven’t overcome. Kalani has been making strides to get past all her fears, she has even made a bucket list. Kyle has just been going through the motions of his life day after day. He keeps it simple, no attachments, all emotions at bay, no downfall. But deep down he’s still harboring everything that has happened in his past.

I loved seeing these two come together and just how far they’ve come by the end of the book. Their pasts are just absolutely tragic and you can see why it has scarred them so deeply. Not only am I fan of what Kyle does for Kalani, I love what she does for him. It’s not a great thing to see Kyle who was just emotionally disconnected from everything until Kalani dives into his life. She brought him back to life and it made him want to finally face his past so he could finally just be present.

And Kyle gets intrigued by Kalani’s bucket list and wants to do everything he can to help her cross everything off that list. For a while, he doesn’t know why she has the list in the first place, but it just fuels him more and eager to know why she has it.

Overall, it’s a beautiful story for these two, I was hoping for a bit more since it’s an emotional read. But it didn’t quite tug at me like I hoped it would.
