Review
Crown of One Hundred Kings just might be my third YA Fantasy this year and I am absolutely here for it. I’m a huge fan of Rachel Higginson, so once I saw that she was going to release a YA fantasy trilogy, I was absolutely on board. And there’s just a little bit of romance to keep my romance lovin’ self going.
I thought Rachel did a great job with the world-building, there were a couple of times where I blanked out a little bit, but that’s what tends to happen to me when I read high fantasy. However, I was able to follow along effortlessly and understood what happened with Tessana’s family and what she has to face to claim what’s rightfully hers.
Ah Tessana, I really enjoyed this heroine, she’s a rather fierce character. She’s not afraid to go after anything, I’ll admit she doesn’t always think things through, but she’s still only 17. I can’t wait to see her character develop as the series go on. I LOVED her friendship with Oliver, those two are almost like siblings and their banter was comical.
And then we have Taelon, we know their story right from the very beginning and I’m just eager to see what will grow between these two. They have the chemistry and their connection is something you’ll see immediately. And he’s such a likable character!
Rachel wrote such a solid foundation for this trilogy, setting everything up. Tess will be facing a lot of barriers before she can claim the crown, I’m a little nervous about it all because there’s a lot working against her. She has so much growing to do, but I know it’ll be an epic adventure.
