Review
Dear world, I love paranormal and vampire romances were my first jam! There’s only so many vampire romances that I truly adore and Dead of Night has easily become one of them. I am all for contemporary romance authors diving into the paranormal genre especially if I love their books already.
Dead of Night is a witch/vampire read and I can’t say that I’ve read a book about this kind of duo, but I am here for all of it. Give me all of these reads.
I just love vampire reads, there’s always something so dark, alluring and damn right erotic about these creatures of the night. I simply can’t get enough of them. Lucas and Callie are just steaming off of these pages the entire book.
Callie is BA of a witch who can definitely hold her own in any fight. And I loved the confidence that she constantly had in herself, she’s sooooo strong and someone you don’t want to mess with. PERIOD. There’s still the big question about what she actually is, I was hoping it would have been answered in this one, but it looks like we’ll have to wait for book 2 to find out. I have my theories, so I can be patient to find out.
To complement Callie’s badassery, we have the 1,600 year old vampire that is Lucas. And he’s everything that I want all my favorite vampires to be. Badass, strong, oozing sexiness … don’t mind me as my fanning myself, and just downright caring and protective in their own ways. But it’s nearly impossible not to fall in love with Lucas. Behind all that persona, he definitely has his soft side when it comes to Callie, he wants nothing more than to keep her safe, but he ultimately respects what she’s capable of and would never ask her to stay out of a fight. I loved that.
From beginning to end, I loved every moment between these two. Let’s not forget Callie’s familiars who have her back no matter what and her friends/coven. There’s definitely dark times ahead for Callie and that’s huge arc of this story. Someone or something is hunting these witches and killing them, but it seems that whomever is doing this is looking for one certain person.
I’m obsessed with these two, this world, book and series! You’ve got the romance AND suspense/mystery all in one. Emily, you’ve done good with this PNR romance and I am so ready for more!
