Review
At last, Dark of Night has arrived and I just couldn’t wait to dive in. I have a bit mixed feelings about the second book in this series because it almost felt like things were at a standstill with the emphasis on something big happening possibly in this one or the next. Regardless, I still enjoyed this one very because hello, Lucas and Callie … need I say more?!
We get so much more of Callie and Lucas in this one and more than ever he is 100% devoted to Callie and would do absolutely anything for her! Their love for one another is strong and unbreakable, damn anyone that tries to separate them. However, their love was at the forefront in just about every chapter and it felt like a bit too much. I love a few steamy scenes here and there, but I’d be okay with less.
This book definitely confirmed a theory or two that I made during book 1. What the heck is Callie and who are her real parents? There’s so much hostility thrown her way from her family minus hersister, who we see them trying to have a better relationship this time around. There’s definitely a thing or two I’d love to do to her father and brother, those two are up to know good and I don’t even what kind of madness they’ll bring in the future.
From the very beginning, you can sense something on a much bigger scale is going to go down at some point. Let’s be real, trouble follows Callie like nothing you’ve ever seen before. But she’s strong and bold as ever and constantly facing it all head on.
Their relationship is very much taboo and for now, they’re trying to keep it hidden. I’m hoping we to get to see more concrete rules about a witch/vampire. Something/someone is after Callie and I feel like it definitely has to do with what she is and not necessarily who she is dating. There’s something bigger at play here and I’m so eager to learn what that is.
Thankfully we don’t have wait long for book 3 because I was not a fan of the little cliffhanger in this one!
major thank you to the author for the complimentary copy in consideration for a review. this does not affect my opinion of the book or review.
