Bookish Thoughts | From Bookstagram to Substack

I think we’re finally doing, I’m mostly saying farewell to Bookstagram and that was an easier decision than I thought it would. For me, Bookstagram-verse has definitely changed over the past decade and has quickly become a space that wasn’t quite for me.
About a month ago with summer finally arriving and my little ones are on school break, I knew that I needed to dial some things back when it came to my reading and reviewing. As my kids are getting older, things are definitely shifting in this household and my book review priorities are getting lower. Not like I was doing a great job since book after book were lapsing when it came time to review. And that’s not fair to not only the author, but whom I was graciously able to receive the ARCs from.
What about beta reading?
To the authors that I’m continuing to work with and have in the past, I will absolutely beta read as long as you’ll have me. I truly love beta reading and have been so grateful for the many opportunities that I’ve had, to do it. Please do reach out to me, I’m always lurking 😉
How about the blog?!
I’ll be shifting a lot of my focus into it, there will be some changes happening, but it will be a little bit at a time. Since my reading has been a bit less the past month, I’ve been able to lean into other hobbies that I wanted to explore. Last month I picked up sewing again and I’m hooked all over again. The past couple of weeks I have taken a break since it was back to back sewing projects. I absolutely to share what I’ve been working on and sharing some of my woes of being a beginner. I just inherited a bass guitar that I use dabble with back when I was in college, so I’ll using some library resources for lessons. I have so many things that I want to explore, creatively. And I can’t wait to bridge that to my blog in some shape or form.
And Substack ties into this, how?
I wanted a sort of social place/platform with a bit of versatility and accessibility with what I want to work towards. I’ve been sitting on the fence for a while about Substack, but it was a couple friends that finally convinced me to jump over it. I’m still trying to figure out the ins and out of it all, but it’s just a really easy platform for me to use. And works well with my time since it has been an extremely busy summer being the best chauffeur for my kiddos. The most nerve-wracking thing about going to Substack is that many from my book community on Instagram are not on Substack, so it definitely feels like I’m starting over again. I don’t have any number goals, I just want to take it one thing at a time, and find something that works for me.
There will definitely be a lot of changes with my Substack as I try to figure out, so if you’re there, feel free to check me out!
Cheers to adventures! I’ll have my profile open and will be it using for any reviewing commitments and cross-posting blog posts. My DMs are forever open, so feel free to reach out, but for now, I’ll be sharing a lot of my thoughts here and over on Substack.
