Review
Kristen Proby was one of the first authors that truly got me into reading romance and it started with her Marriage to a Billionaire series. Once I saw that she was writing a novella for 1,001 Dark Nights, I knew I had to get my hands on a copy. It was quite the enjoyable prequel to this beloved series.
The one thing that makes me dislike novellas is that they’re always so short and leaves me begging for more.
When it comes to the heroes in this series, Rip was probably my least favorite. He was pretty quick to make judgments about Caterina before even meeting her. And I was so surprised how negative they were, plus he was so certain about them being right. With the Winsor Winery nearly in his grasp, he accepted the proposition to marry the heiress. All he had to do was head to Italy and convince Caterina to come back home, the one place that reminded her so much of heartbreak. As you can predict once she eventually learns the truth, it’s a recipe for disaster.
Caterina has spent over a year in Milan to truly discover herself. It was a bit of an escape from her reality back at home at the winery. Since birth, she was destined to take over the family business. And that time has nearly come since her father is ready to retire into a more relaxing life. She is finally ready to start dating again and a mysterious stranger takes notice. Instant chemistry for these two, she’s ready to dive in. But that little secret is going to backfire and she’ll be right back to when she decided to first leave for Italy.
Although this wasn’t my favorite in the series, I still enjoyed it. If you’re a fan of this series then you will as well. Of course, reviews coming in aren’t a fan of this trope, but start with book 1 of this series, I promise you’ll love it! I’m definitely going to do a re-read because I miss this bunch so much.
