Synopsis

When the sun disappeared, the world was cast in shadows, hiding the evil that lay in wait. When it was dark, I hunted. The shadows caressed my body as I did things I could never do in the light of day.

Eighteen-year-old Bree Bowen has spent her entire life training and working as one of her father’s assassins. Fear has kept her and her best friend, Wes, under her father’s thumb—until now.

When Wes takes matters into his own hands, securing Bree a new identity and a plane ticket to America, he gives her the one chance she’s been desperately seeking.

Learning to live a new life isn’t easy. Add in her new roommate, Reid, who just happens to be a stripper, and things start to get a little crazy. Falling for a man has never been part of her plan, but she can’t seem to stay away from Reid.

When Bree’s past comes crashing back into her life, secrets that she’s fought to keep hidden are revealed, and she’s forced to choose between Reid and the life she could have with him, or Wes, the one man who has always loved her unconditionally.

Regardless of her choice, she must learn the consequences of sin.

This book will be a standalone.

Review

This was a rather different storyline that I thoroughly enjoyed, instead of the man being the badass protector it was the female lead! LOVEDDDDDDD IT! Not that he was a wuss or anything, he is definitely anything but that. And yes I am talking about her beautiful specimen of a roommate who goes by Reid.
Bree, since infancy, was thrown into the life of learning to defend and kill because her father is a monster and should be thrown into a pool of sharks … okay, maybe that’s a bit drastic. But he’s a heartless man that shows no love for his daughter. Just imagine being forced into a life that you don’t want, what else are you to do? Bree has killed and it leaves her hollower every time, she’s not meant for that world of darkness. When opportunity strikes her best friend, Wes, helps her runaway so she can live a life that she wanted and be free.
She jets off to Dallas to find her new beginning and it all started with an ad looking for a roommate. Reid. Lets be real, two single people living together as roommates … come on, it’s a recipe for disaster, but a rather pleasurable one. And there’s a major perk, he’s a stripper and he gives quite the show! He shows her a life of having fun and taking chances, and he brings the life that she’s desperately seeking.
They have their secrets and a relationship merely built on lies, after all is revealed can they make things work? And what about Wes, the best friend that she loves and the man who will do anything to keep her safe. It’s quite a blurry love triangle, but you’ll just have to read the book to find out what happens.
As much as I liked Wes, I was Team Reid the entire time! But I didn’t want to give into that too much because I’ve read too many stories, where it goes the opposite direction of my liking. I think a lot of readers will love this storyline because it’s different than what most of us are use to reading. I love the badass females and in this story, she can protect herself and would go to any means to keep the ones she love, safe. And the fact that Reid is a stripper is a huge bonus in this story, there’s a particular scene that I was rather excited about! Reid and Bree will set your pages on fire, trust me!
I loved this book and was in anticipation the entire time! And I desperately wish there would be more, this book is a standalone, but I smell another book on the horizon!
