One of my biggest goals for the year has been to work on my feedback ratio for Netgalley. I get sooooooooo much crap whenever I share how many books are on my TBR and yada, yada. Trust me, I know, it’s a lot … my TBR is intimidating, but over the past couple of years, I’ve been so motivated to get my ratio up.

What surprises the people the most is that I still get approved for newer gallies, but I do a lot better than when I first started back in 2013. If I had the knowledge of what I know now when it comes to Netgalley and apply to 2013, I definitely would not be in the position that I am. I got to this point because I requested EVERYTHING and then one thing after another happened, and I just fell behind significantly. And I am paying for it now.

It is tough to get your feedback ratio up, at least for me because:

  • I can’t resist books
  • some books end up being a DNF, you have the option to not provide feedback, BUT that doesn’t help/hurt your ratio. (may have found a little loophole with this)
  • and of course, life happens.

August was a huge reading month for me, I managed to read and review 9 books. HOWEVER, I added quite a few new books to my TBR, so I’ve been hovering around the same spot for a little.

@laurasloaninglibrary made a template for bookstagram and that’s what truly inspired me to get things in gear with my Netgalley.

For September, I’m not planning on adding new books to my TBR, so wish me luck!

x any other fellow Netgalley users out there? How’s your TBR going?

  1. Ah that Netgalley ratio. Mine dropped a lot over the past 4 years or so but I’m trying to be more diligent. Before I used to decline to review if I DNF’d but that was hurting my ratio a lot so now I just write something and call it a review lolol. And try harder to pick books I think I’ll like.

    1. Yeah it’s a fickle thing that ratio, a constant nuisance … especially when it’s hard to resist books! That’s my loophole, I skim read a book that’s bound to be a DNF haha.

  2. Good luck in getting that ratio under control! I’m at roughly 90% (but I dont get approved of a crazy amount if reads) and it drives me mad if my ratio dips under 80. I don’t know why. It’s not like we get any prizes for this, haha!
